TECHNIQUE - FORWARD THRUSTING SHORE CROSSINGS

PILOT HOLE
A small diameter pilot hole is drilled under directional control to a predetermined drilling profile using either a jetting bit or a mud motor attached to a drill string. Once the Drill Bit breaks through the Seabed at the HDD Exit the Pilot Hole Operation is complete.
REAMING
After completion of the Pilot Hole, the drilled hole is enlarged to suit the product pipeline or conduit to be installed. Depending on the geotechnical conditions several passes may be required each progressively enlarging the hole to the required diameter. The reamers will be attached using a small marine support vessel and drill pipe is added behind the reamer as it is pulled from Offshore to shore
FORWARD THRUSTING
After completion of the Reaming Operations the Pipe set up behind the HDD Entry and using the overbend towers to control spanning is thrust using the CoeDrill Pipe Thruster through the borehole with the assistance jetting head on the leading end of the pipeline.
ADVANTAGES
• Onshore welding of pipeline in all weather conditions.
• Small marine spread required to assist drilling operations compared to costly    lay barge.
• Shore Crossing installation can be completed before arrival of Lay Barge.
• Proven technology see our BassGas Press Release
